Actual pictures installing a windmill that makes the earth rotate... (at least that is what I thought when I was a kid)
As you drive over the Diablo Range in the Pleasanton/Livermore area of the East Bay in Northern California, you see a huge wind farm. The pass is call the Altamont Pass, and Vasco Road is just before you take the climb up the hill. As you take this road to the delta area of California, you see hundreds of windmills creating energy. As I drove through this sunny morning, I came across one being installed!
I have to say, this sucker was HUGE! The cranes themselves are big, it is dwarfs them!
It makes you wonder how they hoist it up, Unfortunatily you cannot stop on the freeway, so these pictures were taken as I drove over towards Brentwood/Discovery Bay. I was headed to the California Delta for a great weekend on the river.
